In the corners of SoundCloud during the late 2010s, a new sub-genre was born from the evolution of Trap music. Called Pluggnb, this genre mixes the specific "Plugg" drum beats (made famous by producers like Mexikodro) with smooth, dreamy, and nostalgic R&B chords.

While normal Trap music is usually hard and aggressive, Pluggnb is the opposite. It sounds like a soundtrack from a PlayStation 2 video game mixed with heavy bass. The lyrics often talk about love, heartbreak, and luxury, delivered with a laid-back vocal style that uses melodic autotune.
